Bomberman 64 FAQ - by Howard |
Battlemode Tips - There is an easy way
to get rid of your rivals in Rock Garden and other playfields. Hold B
and then press A to pick up a bomb. Then bank one off someone's head,
and while they are still dizzy pick 'em up and throw 'em off! Also, if
you die and become a ghost, if you ran into another player you will hang
on them and you will be able to control them for a while. Use this
advantage to make the players run into bombs and (hopefully!) cause a
draw.
Bomberman Parts - Several Bomberman parts are scattered throughout the
game. Here's how to find them:
Knight Armor - You already have it when you start.
Drill Arm - This battle mode item can be found on Black 1. It is at the
very end of the 5th room on the median. In order to get there you must
fall from one of the platforms, onto the median, and bomb jump your way
up 2 more medians. The remote is helpful. Blow up the box at the end of
the room and the drill arm is yours.
High Tops - In the blue resort. In level 3 under the bridge that has a
box under it and a blue guy on bridge.
Dragon Head - Green ??? - As shown in the final credit sequence, create
a bomb staircase up to the teleporter in the first section. The
teleporter will take you to another small room which contains this
costume piece.
Iron Goggles - Red ??? - There are three metal doors one the first
level, all of which need red bombs to open. This costume piece is
located inside the door which is connected to your starting platform.
There is a small ramp right before it, so you'll have bomb jump to
enter.
Chicken Head - White 1 - On the final section of this level, there is a
cottage with a snowman on top, which you need to destroy to reach the
switch activating the ski lift. Don't blow up the house. Destroy the
snow man with little bombs. Then use the small ledge to create a bomb
jump to the top of the house. There will be a small platform to the
right of the house with one tree (the costume piece). After getting the
piece, fall off the platform to the left (towards the mountain).
Samurai Head - N/A - Beat the game with 120 gold cards.
Dragon Mail - Green 3 - On the first section, you'll notice a teleporter
across a bit of water, which you can't reach at first. Get the
detonator, and remove all the blocks in that area. Then put a bomb in
the elevator (don't detonate it yet!). Then put two large bombs, one on
top of the other, against the wall, as close to the edge of the platform
as possible. The easiest way to do this is to face the wall and throw
the bombs. Then use the elevator to go up, and line yourself up with
those bombs. Then carefully walk off and push in the direction of the
teleporter. If all goes well, you should bounce off the bombs and into
the teleporter.
Iron Armor - White 1 - Go the way of the avalanche. At the very top of
the second section is a cottage. Blow it up with a big bomb. On the
other side is a tree with the costume piece.
Cat Suit - Blue 3 - After draining the water, it is in one of the pots
near the edge, under a bridge (where it was previously underwater).
Cat Hood - N/A - To get the cat hood go to that hole in the building
where you can get throw a bomb in to get jems,That is the Entrance! Set
up some Bombs that lead from the stairs to this window, you don't need
to stack Em. once in the house just steer towards the pot!!
Dress - Black 3 - The instructions to get this piece are actually in the
credit sequence. On the second section, there is an elevator block which
is seemingly unreachable. Complete the section as normal, and activate
the first elevator. Going up will take you to a suspended platform with
three planks. Walk of the last plank, and you should fall on top of one
of the four sections below. Use a couple small bombs to bomb hop from
one section to another, until you find the other section. This secret
section is rather large, but isn't to difficult. The costume piece is
near the gold card, I believe.
Rocking Horse - Red 3 - Getting to this costume piece is fairly easy
compared to some of the others. At the very end of the level, there will
be a platform which you need to make fall by destroying the supporting
pillars. Before you do that, fall through the hole it will eventually
plug. This costume piece should be in a furnace block real close by. Use
the tracks to escape the area.
Shogun Kimono - N/A - Beat the game with 120 cards.
Knight Shoes - N/A - Given to you at the beginning
Dragon Spikes - Green 3 - On the last section of this level (with the
big tower), on the far wall of the structure, facing away from the
teleporter which brought you here, is a secret entrance. It looks like a
wall, but you can walk through it. You can find it by pulling the camera
in as close as possible, and standing next to the wall. Rotate the
camera until it is inside the building. There will be two pots in there,
one of which is the Dragon Spikes.
Iron Sneakers - White 3 - Go through the right door once you start. When
sliding down the slide, it is in a tree to the far left (opposite side
than the switch).
Cat Paws - Red 3 - There is only one metal door on this level, and the
cat shoes are behind it. The red bomb is actually in the barrel which is
close to the door, but don't blow up the barrel which you need to walk
there by accident. If you do, just leave the area and come back.
High Tops - Blue 3 - On Cliff, after first dam (get it beforehand)
Bunny Socks - Black 3 - In the second section, there is a [::] switch.
On a wall right next to it are a couple blocks. One of them wil have the
costume piece.
High Heels - N/A - Beat the game with 120 gold cards.
Knight Sword - N/A - Given to you at the beginning
Dragon Gloves - Green 1 - After receiving the Red Bombs, head towards
the second section, and enter the teleporter on the left (which is
obscured behind a wall). You will need the Red Bomb to blow up the blue
pillars. After going through the teleporter, this costume piece will be
easy to find in that room.
Iron Nuckles - Blue 1 - This one is easy. It is in the same room as the
switch which opens the exit.
Slash Claws - Red 1 - Knock down the planks to go the alternative way.
Near the exit, you will find yourself right above a single block on a
short railroad track. kick a bomb off your higher ground, but use the
R-button to stop it as soon as it leaves the platform. It should land
right on top of the piece. After the explosion, drop down and get the
piece. Use the broken tracks to fall down to the bottom level.
Chicken Wings - White 3 - Once first starting, head through the white
door. This costume piece will be easy to find, but the strange view
might make it seem harder than it is. The costume piece will be out on a
ledge in that section, and somewhat hard to navigate to.
Fan - Beat the game with 120 gold cards.
Pony Tails and Duck Feet - You can find these custom parts in Rainbow
Palace in Stage 3. In the main room, in the wall closest to the small
stair case in the ground, there is an opening in the wall. You go
through the wall and use a bunch of bombs to work your way through the
platforms in the sky until you reach a large platform with two blocks
that can be blown up. After they are blown up, the Pony Tails and Duck
Feet are yours.
SunGlasses - The sunglasses are hidden on Black Level 5-3. To get them
is not easy. First you must hit the panel on the floor that has 2 dots
on them. You then go across and hit the panel on the floor that has 4
dots on them. Proceed back and then hit the panel with 3 dots on it. Now
here comes that hard part. If you are facing straight (right after you
get off the elevator) go and take the path that appears when you hit the
panel with 3 dots. Go up the stairs when you get to them. The best way I
found to do this part is this: 1. Put two big bombs on top of each other
against the wall on the other side. 2. Place another big bomb just a
little bit away from the 2 big bombs. 3. Make a bunch of little bombs
leading back to the wall on the other side, but make them the right
distance so that you can bounce from one bomb to another. Go back up the
staircase that you went up before and jump on to the bombs you just laid
out. If you did it right and get a little lucky. You will bounce across
and end up on top of the other side. If you made it, head for the
elevator and continue down the paths until you're by the other elevator.
You will see that there is a floor now connecting the two other floors.
A lot of people must have wondered how to get those there. Go across
those floors and you will find a box. Blow up the box and you'll get
it!!
Duck Float - This custom part can be found in Stage 1 of Rainbow Palace.
First you must reach the switch using a bunch of bombs. Once you get the
switch, a few platforms will move, letting you reach the exit. Before
going to the exit, reach the last platform in front of it and pump a
bomb (remote bombs are a must). Throw the bomb onto the platform
directly to your right. Pump another bomb and throw it to the platform
after the first to your right and lastly, pump one more bomb and throw
it onto the last pumped bomb so that it bounces off a lands on another
platform (the one closest to the custom part). Then you jump on the
first bomb (just fall onto it and let yourself bounce to a platform.
DON'T tilt the joystick while you do it or you'll bounce off a fall
down). You'll bounce to the next bomb and then to a high platform. Fall
from there to your other bomb and you'll land on the platform where
there's a block that contains the Duck Float. I found it useful to get a
heart item first (usually from Blue Resort) before you try this. Drop a
bomb in front of the block and detonate it. Your heart item will protect
you from the blast and the Duck Float is yours (it's probably much
easier to fall and die after you get this than to work your way back).
Golden Armor - Beat Bomberman 64 on hard mode with 120 gold cards in
under 3 hours. This will give you a gold suit, which includes: gold
visor, gold suit, gold shoes, and gold gloves. Many thanks to The
Bomberman 64 Page for this tip.
Bonus Battle Levels - To get four new battle levels, get 100 gold
cards and beat Altair on Easy mode. Then beat Rainbow Palace to unlock
two new battle levels. To access the other two battle levels you must do
the same thing in Hard mode. Good luck!
Bonus Battle Levels - Japanese Version - If you have the import version
of Hudson's Bomberman 64, you can find some cool hidden battle levels.
You need the Hudson JoyCard 64 controller for this to work. Go to the
title screen, put the "Slow Switch" on position Hu and wait five
seconds. You should now hear a sound that confirms that the trick
worked. Choose Battle Mode and you can access four new secret stages.
Bonus Level - To access the Rainbow Palace, collect all 100 Gold Cards
and beat Altair again.
Easy Way to beat Altair - When Altair combines with his ship at the
beginning kick a bomb at him and he will be dizzy. Go up to him and pick
him up (like a bomb) and throw him off the edge and you win! I beat him
in 5 seconds doing this.
Endgame Bonus - Get all the Gold Cards then beat Sirius in the Rainbow
Palace. Now go to the Options screen and select Options.
Congratulations! You may now preview the ending and credits whenever you
want. You can also play two new levels in battle mode.
Full Power Option - Collect all 120 gold cards. Then, a "Full Power"
selection will appear on the options screen. This option allows any
level to be started with maxed out Red bombs, and the remote item.
Hidden Jewels in Blue Resort - When you see a house with a window
open, toss a pump bomb in the window and wait for it to explode.
How the Gold Card system works - For each of the first or third stages
of a level, there are three cards that can be found by blowing up boxes.
Before you begin a level, or when it is paused, there is a display of
how many gold cards you have found or have yet to find. In the display,
the cards you get by blowing up boxes will fill up the first three
spaces. The next space is for the enemy card, which can be gotten on the
30th enemy killed in any stage. The last card is the time card. You will
receive it automatically if you beat the stage within the target time.
Maxed out Mode - Get all 120 gold cards and go to the options menu.
The last ????? will now be replaced by a new option. With this option on
you can start any level with red bombs, remote bombs, eight bombs, and
almost every bomb power you can get in the game.
Quick Recover - When Bomberman is dizzy, move the analog stick around
until he recovers.
Secret Areas in White 1 - Make your way to the place where the wind
blows. Climb to the second level of that area and and get close to the
wall and change your camera angle. You will see an area with a lot of
plants. Walk through the wall into this area and blow up the plants. You
will find lots of diamonds and power-ups.
To find the other secret, destroy the ice covering the sign and read it.
It will warn of avalanches. You have to cause an avalanche to get here.
So go to the top of the hill [the one on the left when you start] and
place a bomb at the very top. When it explodes, you'll have to run!!!
Run to avoid the falling snow. When it clears up, run to the top and
then go fall onto the platform with the snowman on it. Run to the wall
and rub on it until you find a passage. On easy mode there's a powerup,
and on the hard mode there's a custom piece.
Secret Room In Snow Land - This trick really serves no purpose except
to spy on a snowman. Go to the Snow level. On level one in the first
room, go create the avalanche. When the avalanche is gone, go up all the
way to the top of the hill, and fall left off the edge. There is a
snowman on the ledge, but don't bother with him. Go strait up. In the
corner you can go into a little secret room, and watch the snowman! It
doesn't help that much, and if you blow up the far wall, you get a
prize, but that's pretty much it.
Sound Test - To access a sound test option, beat the game in Adventure
mode at normal difficulty.
Special Traps - Highlight battlemode and press START very, very, very
fast until you hear a chime. Go to battle. mow go to options. Put battle
on any number. Put time on i minute. Sudden death on. And ghost on. Go
to single battle. Choose your characters and put all computers on 1
crystal. Now choose your stage. When the timer reaches 59 seconds it
will say hurry hup and you better run!!! All the traps will come in
effect. The traps are listed below.
Level Traps
Rock Garden Fireballs drop
Up And Down Water rises
Pyramid Water rises
Greedy Trap Walls close in
Top Rules Walls close in
Field Of Grass Fireballs drop
In The Gutter Walls close in
Sea Sick Fireballs drop
Blizzard Battle Avalanche
Lost at sea Fireballs drop
View Credits - First beat the game with 100 Gold Cards, then finish
the extra world by defeating Sirius. A CREDITS option will appear on the
OPTIONS menu.
View Your Custom Bomberman - Wanto to take a look at your Bomberman
before heading into battle? Easy. In the main screen of the Custom
Bomberman menu, press Z to rotate your Bomberman clockwise and R to
rotate him counter-clockwise.
Weird Flying Trick - In Black 3 (the third level in Black Fortress),
in the begining, when you first start, go to the side platform where
there is a heart. Blow up the box and kill the fire-blower thing. Get
the heart. Then, set off the alarm by:
stepping on the switch and crossing to the other side when you've
crossed, go to the right where there is a little path of red (currently)
squares that lead to an elevator. step on one of the RED squares. The
alarm will sound. Since you have the heart, this should work. Put down a
bomb and stand on it. When it blows up, you should start to float when
you try to walk. It's pretty cool. Once you've done this, step on the
switch marked "." after crossing back over to de-activate the alarm.
Weird Skating Trick - For this trick, you MUST have a heart, and
remote bombs help. In Black Fortress, on the level with the cars, stand
on the very edge of a platform, and place a bomb, but don't move. The
bomb should be underneath you. When a car is coming, detonate the bomb,
and hopefully you will lose your heart, go spinning around like always
when you lose a heart, and fall off the platform into the path of the
car while you are still flashing. Once you have stopped flashing, you
can move around, but Bomberman's legs will not move! He looks like he is
standing still, but moving!
Unfortunately, you can't throw bombs like this, only kick them, so just
grab your heart again, and run into a car so your heart flies out, and
run along to get it again. It's not much, but it looks pretty cool |
